Pairing: Jack/Liz
Summary: Jack had never been more nervous in his life.
He couldn't believe it. Him, Jack Donaghy, was nervous. I mean, just the thought of it is impossible. But, this was not the first time he asked a woman out to dinner. It was different this time though. The woman he was about to ask out was not like the many he dated. She wasn't a supermodel. She was a writer.
Yup, he was gonna ask Elizabeth Lemon out.
The writers' were out for lunch, which was rare since they always ate at the table. Cerie and Liz were the only ones left in the room.
"Cerie, is um, Liz here?"
"Oh yeah, she's in her office."
"Do I...look okay?"
Cerie gave him a confused look.
"Oh, I see where this is going. Um, it's Valentine's Day, right?" Cerie asked Jack.
He nodded.
"Here. Frank and Lutz each gave me a rose, but you can have one."
"Thank you, Cerie."
"Sure, no problem."
Jack walked to Liz's door.
"Oh, um--" Cerie started to say.
Jack turned back.
"Yes?" he replied.
"Good luck."
Jack opened the door to Liz's office where he saw Liz on her laptop.
"Happy Valentine's Day, Lemon," Jack said as he placed the rose on her table.
"Aw, thanks Jack! You're the first person to say that to me. To tell you the truth, if I hadn't met you, who would give me a flower for Valentine's Day?"
His heart was racing fast. Goddamn it, Jack! You give her your A-Game!
"Aw, come here," Liz said, standing up to give him a hug.
Okay, he was prepared. Ready.
"Liz, can I...can I ask you something?"
"Shoot."
He took a deep breath.
"You know what? It's not that important."
"Um, okay."
Jack slammed the door shut and began cursing, not even caring if Cerie was there.
He went to the nearest mirror.
"You're gonna ask her out. Oh, yeah. You're gonna take what's yours, you magnificent son of a bitch!"
Apparently, Liz was doing the same thing.
"Okay. Elizabeth Lemon, you've got this. You're a single woman who might get asked out today. And when he asks you, you take what's yours. Now act calm, you little bitch!"
Jack ran back to her office.
"Oh, hey, Jack. I wasn't...giving myself pep talk."
Without thinking, Jack kissed her.
"Do you want to go out with me?" he asked.
"Hmm?"
"Like, you know, dinner. A date. A dinner date."
"Oh, Jack. Of course! And the last time I checked, we are married. So don't call me 'Lemon' anymore."
"Alright. Mrs. Donaghy, I will call you and give you the details."
"When can I expect you to call?"
"Oh, maybe after the writers get back."
"Okay, I'll be waiting," Liz said with a smile.
Jack kissed her one more time when the writers came back from lunch.
"Bye," they both said.
"Oh shit, they're doing it!" some writer said.
"Oh, shut up. We're married. Married couples can do that."
She shut the door to her office while the writers were laughing and "awwing" at the news.
He needs to buy her a ring.
