Summary: "Did it ever occur to you why we didn't fix this?" THIS FIC IS NAZ'S IDEA...SHE GAVE ME THE WHOLE PLOT. SO THANK HER FOR THE STORY, I'M JUST AN EDITOR :)
It's been a while since Jack and Liz have been married. Maybe about five months, almost six. Avery couldn't take it anymore. I mean, sure. She knew it was an accident that they got married, but she couldn't be with someone who is married. So, after Jack went to work that day, Avery packed her stuff and left.
That night, Jack saw his house empty. He decided to go to Liz's house.
"Did it ever occur to you as to why we didn't fix this?" Jack asked, grabbing the sandwich Liz was eating and ate half of it.
"Hello to you too. And hey, that's my sandwich."
Jack gave her back the sandwich and Liz went to go look for some wine.
"Thank you."
"Okay, now what was your question?"
"Why didn't we ever get a divorce or something if we really aren't married?"
"Well, I guess we didn't have time, since our work schedules have been so busy, we couldn't see each other."
"Liz, stop teasing."
Liz stopped talking. It's very rare for him to call her by her first name.
"What are you talking about?"
She grabbed a bottle of water and sat back down next to Jack. Jack held her hand.
"I'm saying...what if I do really want to get married?"
Liz immediately spit her water out and it landed on her Star Wars DVDS.
"WHACK?!"
Liz pulled her hand away from Jack's.
"Okay, Lemon. I said it. Avery left me today."
"Oh, so I'm just some rebound girl?"
"No, Lemon. I actually love you."
Liz tries to say something. But no words could express what was going on right now.
"You don't have to say anything right now. I know you might say 'Ugh, Jack! No!!! That's gross!' but you know I respect you. Consider your options, okay?"
Liz nods.
Jack stands up to leave.
"Wait, are you leaving?"
"I want to. I don't want to stress you out while you're deciding. I'll come back here tomorrow."
Jack shuts the door.
Liz wants to open the door, but as her mentor said, she shouldnt see him until she decides what she wants...
The following night, Jack was at his house. He saw something that belonged to Avery, a locket. He smiles, but only for a second.
"I'm sorry, Avery. But it's in my heart that I have to do this."
He throws the locket out in the window, where it lands straight into a trash can.
By the time it hit the trash can, his doorbell rang.
"Liz?"
"Hey, buddy. Is it alright if I can go inside?"
"Yeah, sure. Make yourself comfortable."
Liz goes inside, while holding Jack's hand. Jack smiles, because he knows what she's about to say.
"I've been thinking about what you said. I know it was an accident but I want it to be real."
Jack can't help but say it.
"It started out as a joke, but it's becoming real!"
Liz slaps him in the arm.
"I'm trying to say something serious here!"
"Sorry, Lemon. Continue."
"I just wanna say that...I think I agree with you. I do want you to be my real husband, I do. And last night when you left, I realized something. I wouldn't be what I am now if I hadn't met you."
"So...is that a yes?"
Liz kisses him.
"Yup."
Jack nods and smiles.
"I'm glad to hear that."
And he kissed the bride.
