Summary: "I do."
A/N: Liz's birthday was on Oct. 14th, on the live show!
"These heels are killing me!" Liz said as she put on her dress.
"Don't worry, in a few hours you'll be alone with him, without your heels or anything on."
"Ew, Jenna, that's sick."
"We all know it was eventually gonna happen. I mean, here you are, with your big white dress and Jack just waiting at the rooftop of the Plaza."
"I'm marrying Jack. Jack Donaghy."
Liz smiled at the thought. It was October 14th. Her birthday. A year ago, Jack proposed to her, on the very spot they were about to get married in. Allison was gonna be the flower girl. Allison was Jack and Liz's daughter, and 2 years after she was born, Jack finally proposed to her. She was 38. Waaaay late to get married. But so was Jack.
"Love has no boundaries, right?" Liz asked Jenna.
"Of course not! Unless it was Jeter and he tried to play football while he was under you."
Liz gave Jenna a disgusted look.
"I mean, I'm not too old to get married, right?"
"Like I said Liz, marriage is like death."
"Just...go get Allie, okay? I wanna see her before she gets outside the door."
"Allie! Your mom's calling for you."
In a mad dash, Allie ran to her mom and hugged her.
"You look really pretty, Mommy."
"Aw, thanks sweetheart. I'm sure your Daddy and I think you are too."
"Where is Daddy?" Allison asked with her blue eyes just like her dad's, but her personality exactly like Liz's.
"Daddy's on the roof, waiting for me. You wanna go with Auntie Jenna and put the flowers on the floor?"
"Anything for my Mommy and Daddy. They are all dressed up and I like it, right Auntie Jenna?"
"That's right, little one! Now, race you to the elevator?"
"Hey, don't go running too fast, okay Allie?"
Allison said the word that made Liz smile.
"Blerg."
Now, how did she know about that, she asked herself. She had about 10 minutes to go.
On the rooftop though, Jack was smiling at the sight of her daughter walking down the aisle setting flowers on the floor. He thought about 18 years later, when he's 71, when he will be walking down the aisle with her, guiding her to her new life with this man. But that will be in the future. Instead, he just watches little Allison stumble but smile while she walks. She was wearing little baby heels and she walked just like Liz when she was in heels.
10 minutes later, Liz walks down the aisle with her father. When she got to the front, Jack and Liz traded smiles. He was about to kiss her when Liz said "Hey, no kissing the bride until the end."
When the priest was at the end, he was talking slower.
"Do you, Jack Donaghy, take this woman, to be your lawful, wedded wife?"
"I do."
He started to lean down and kiss Liz, but Liz jabbed him in the arm, telling him to listen.
"And do you, Elizabeth Lemon, take this man, to be your lawful, wedded husband."
"I do."
"And now, by the power vested in thee, I know pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Jack just stood there.
"Oh, just kiss me, you nerd."
Jack smiled and gave her a passionate kiss. People started applauding, but the loudest clappers were Colleen and Kenneth.
During the ceremony, Colleen stood up.
"I would like to say something for the couple."
"Oh, no." Jack whispers.
"Don't worry, honey, it's gonna be fine. Colleen likes me, remember?" Liz whispered back.
"This couple is...just lovely to look at. I'm so relieved that my Jacky boy has chosen the right girl. Lizzie, welcome to the family."
Liz smiled and mouthed a silent
"Thank you" to her mother-in-law.
People started clinking their wine glasses and Jack and Liz kissed once more. The room was full of "Awws" and Allie walked to their table and sat on Liz's lap. Jack noticed she had something in her hair.
"Allie, honey. You have lettuce stuck in your hair."
"I do? Where?"
"Right there."
Liz takes the piece of lettuce off her hair.
"You two are really beautiful today, Daddy."
"Oh, I'm beautiful now?" Jack says.
"Nooo!!! Mommy is beautiful and you are handsome."
"There you go, sweetie. Now, why don't you go with Grandma for a second? Me and your mommy have something to talk about."
"Which grandma? Nana, or Mama?"
Nana, as to which Allie called her, was Margret, Liz's mother. And Mama, as she forced Allie to call her, was Colleen.
"Either one is fine, hon."
"Okay, bye!"
When she finally left the table, Liz and Jack were finally down to business.
"You know what Allie said earlier?"
"What?"
"She said blerg, honey!"
"Blerg? Like what you say?"
"Yeah! And I never said it in front of her."
"She must have collected your words when she was in your stomach."
"Ha! Good one, Donaghy!"
This was the best night of their lives. Sure it may not be the future they had planned, but meeting each other on that morning was not a mistake, but serendipitous.
"You love me, right?"
"Don't be ridiculous, Liz. You know you're the only woman I've ever really loved."
Liz rolled her eyes and said
"Let's go to your private jet and take the trip to France. This dress is itchy!!"
"You won't feel anything but me in a matter of hours."
"And you..won't feel anything if you keep up this dirty talk."
"Bossypants, huh? Like the sound of that. Maybe you could teach me something new today."
"You can't teach an old dog new tricks."
"But what if you can teach a new dog old tricks?"
"Is that me you're talking about? What are we learning?"
"Just wait and see, Lemon."
