Summary: Liddy and her younger half-sister have a talk. (Liddy's twenty-one here.)
Liddy took a deep breath and walked to the podium to speak. Everyone was wearing black. Her mother, Ella (her sister), and other family friends.
"Um. Hello, everyone. Thanks for coming. My father was a great man. I remember this one time when I was nervous for my flute recital. He told me to do my best because when he was young, he played the flute in front of his entire hockey team and had no shame. He also told me that he'd play His flute backstage and I'd just pretend I was playing if I didn't really wanna do it."
Liddy chuckled as she noticed she had tears in her eyes.
"Anyway, my dad made GE a flourishing company. He made my mom's show, TGS, get sky-shooting ratings. As TGS reaches its 26th anniversary, I remember the story that both my mom and dad kept telling me because I always wanted to hear it. I wanted to hear their story of how they met and that somehow always made me happy. My dad will always stay in my heart and I hope he'll be remembered for many generations to come. Thank you."
Liddy stepped off the podium and walked outside to where her mother was.
"Hi, mom," she said before hugging her.
"You did so good, honey!"
"Mom, it's okay. You don't have to cry. I mean, you have me and Ella."
"That's true," Ella said.
"Oh, Ella. I'm glad you could come. I know you were busy with college and everything--"
"Mom. It's okay. You and Dad mean the world to me."
Liz sniffled.
"Your father...wanted to give this to both of you. We never gave it because we felt that you didn't need it. You can keep it for yourselves, or someday, maybe you can give it to your children," Liz said as she gave the tapes to them.
"You want to walk with us?" Ella asked.
"No thanks. I'm gonna go talk with the other people here. Thanks again for coming," Liz told them with a sad smile.
Liddy and Ella hugged their mom one last time before turning around and heading to Central Park.
"So, how's college?" Liddy asked her.
"Cut the crap, Lids. What was that about?"
"What are you talking about?"
"That was so fake! You hated dad. You hated how he wanted you to be the best in everything."
"Shut up. I wanted to be like mom, alright? I wanted to be a writer and that's that."
Ella scoffed.
"She's not even your real mom."
That hit Liddy and she ran to her car.
"Stupid word vomit. Liddy, wait!"
Ella ran after Liddy.
"What do you want?!" Liddy yelled.
"I just wanted to say that I'm sorry. It didn't mean for it to come out like that."
Ella opened the car door and sat on the seat.
Liddy sighed.
"You don't understand, Ella. My birth mom left me."
"Why didn't you tell me this before? When we were teenagers, you always said that your mom left you when you were young and you never knew her."
"When I was just a little baby, Avery, my birth mother, got held captive in North Korea. Dad did everything to get her back, but it was too late. So, mom helped dad out with taking care of me. They never really started dating until she found out that she was pregnant with you."
Ella smirked.
"I remember dad saying that they 'made' me because they were afraid that the world would end."
They shared a laugh.
"I'm really sorry about earlier, though," Ella said.
"No, it's fine. I just can't think right now."
"Where's Will, by the way?"
"He's out there talking to mom."
Ella smiled.
"He's good for you, Liddy."
Liddy hugged Ella.
"I know he is."
Liddy turned the radio on in her car and they both laughed as they heard a familiar song.
"Sitting on a park bench! Neer, neer, neer. I don't know the words except park bench!" they yelled as they laughed.
"This was dad's song!" Liddy yelled.
"You wanna go get pizza?" Ella asked.
"Just like old times?"
"Let's order two and see who can shotgun it!"
"Deal!"
END (maybe a little series between the sisters when they were younger. Maybe...)
