This Might Be the Gas Talking, But...

Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Not mine.
Spoilers: "100"
Summary: "I'd be worse off without you."

Jack ran as fast as he could to the dress rehearsals just in time to grab the pen out of Liz's hand.
"Lemon, don't sign those papers!" he yelled.
Liz looked at him with a frustrated look.
"What are you doing here?"
Dennis quickly stole the paper from Jack and put it in front of Liz.
"Just sign it, dummy. It's for some lez pants you bought or whatever," he said.
Jack grabbed the paper from Dennis and ripped it into pieces.
"You tricked me!" Liz said to Dennis.
"You wanna fight, Donaghy?" Dennis yelled.
Jack looked at him weirdly and chuckled.
"Are you sure, Dennis? I have three other versions of me upstairs and I'm not afraid to bring them up here."
Dennis scoffed.
"Go ahead. I can take them."
Liz looked at him with a disgusted face.
"Go," Jack and Liz simultaneously said.
"You'll be back, dummy!" he yelled.
Liz turned around to face Jack and thank him, but before she could do that, Jenna walked towards them with a very swollen stomach. Was Jenna pregnant?, thought Liz.
This was gonna be a long day.
**
When they got Tracy back, everyone started writing and hurrying.
"Come on, people! We have a show to air!" Liz kept yelling. She was scared. The cue cards looked horrible and no one was prepared. There was no sanity whatsoever in the room.
Suddenly, Liz had an idea. It was a crazy idea, but it was probably the only way. She looked at Jack and he knew what she was thinking. He nodded in approval.
"Just keep it! Everyone get ready."
Liz ran to where the source of the gas leak was and tried to bust the pipe. It finally busted open with gas and Liz started thinking funny.
"I should tell Jack about my foot problem," Liz said as she walked back to the room.
30 minutes into the show, everyone was laughing. The show made no sense, yet it had people laughing and rolling on the floor...literally.
Hank Hooper walked to where Jack and Liz were.
"This is hilarious! I'm giving you a million more episodes!" he said, before they all busted out laughing again.
Liz finally looked at Jack.
"Jack," she said.
He turned to look at her with those blue eyes that got her every time.
"Yes, Lemon?" he replied calmly.
"I was wrong about Dennis. You're the ONLY guy that never left me no matter what."
Jack smiled at her.
"Lemon," Jack said.
"Yes, Jack?"
Liz looked at him with her innocent face. Jack always loved that about her. He loved how they had no secrets and how he could be himself around her without business getting in the way. He loved how she never hesitated to tell him something, like she was his listening box. He loved how she would always go with him to special events. Avery never bothered to go, so he always took Liz with him.
"I'd be worse off without you," he said to her.
Liz chuckled and pretended to hold a glass of wine in her hand as Jack did the same. They clinked their "glasses" and "drank" their wine.
"To a million more episodes!" Liz yelled.
"What do you say we get some more drinks up in my office?" Jack asked her.
"What, right now? I can't. I'm in a middle of a show."
"Lemon, we are suffering from a gas leak right now. No one cares what they do. Plus, Pete is here. He'll cover for you right, Hornberger?"
Pete smiled and nodded.
Liz thought about it for a moment.
"Okay!" she finally said.
Jack grabbed her arm and ran to the elevator.
The elevator ride from the sixth floor to the fifty-second floor was awkward.
"Soo," Liz said, trying to break the ice.
"Soo," Jack repeated, moving closer to her.
"What's all this about?" Liz whispered.
"Maybe we should just take a deep breath and both say our ideas out loud."
They both took a deep breath (next to where the gas thing was) and calmly tried to tell each other their ideas. It didn't work. No words came out from the both of them because they were so nervous of what the other was going to say.
Jack scooted a little closer to Liz, slowly entwining his fingers with hers.
"What are we doing?" Liz whispered.
"I don't know, but I just wanted to say sorry for earlier. Your hand isn't flaky. In fact, it's soft and...and comforting."
Liz chuckled.
"Thanks, buddy."
Buddy, Jack thought. That was all Jack was to her; a buddy.
The elevator doors dinged, signaling them that they were on Jack's floor.
Liz smiled and exited the elevator first.
**
Future Jack looked at Present Jack with Present Liz. He chuckled as Liz accidentally fell on top of Jack. That was where it all began.
"Oh, god. I'm sorry," Liz said, chuckling.
Being high on gas and drinking wine was not a good combination.
Jack smirked.
"Today would be a good time to get off of me, Lemon."
"Oh. Right."
For the next hour or two, they did nothing but drink and tell each other things they haven't told anyone before.
"Favorite wife?" Liz asked him.
Jack chuckled.
"I've only had two, Lemon. I'm still currently married right now."
"I know. Pick your favorite."
"Hmm...I would have to say I hated Bianca. There was never any love. I like my second wife better. She's really nice and she takes good care of my daughter. I look forward to the hours I spend with my wife. That, and she has very beautiful brown hair."
Liz thought about it for a minute. It can't be her. Avery must've dyed her hair brown. Ugh.
"Avery must look good with brown hair, then," Liz said shyly.
Jack looked confused, but it suddenly hit him that he was telling Liz his feelings for her, but she didn't have a clue at all.
"What happened when you were in middle school?" Jack asked her.
"Oh, god. When I was in sixth grade, everybody loved me. I swear, I was probably starting to be popular. That summer, everyone started hating me. My best friend, Olivia, told me she hated me and never talked to me again. In seventh grade, she said that she was sorry and tried being friends with me again. That didn't work at all. She just used me to get her homework done. I had a rough middle school year. What about you?"
Jack looked shocked, but then he realized it was his turn to speak.
"Oh...the usual. In seventh grade, I had my first actual girlfriend. Her name was Joanna. I actually stole her from her previous boyfriend, Harvey. I don't know why I'm remembering all these names. I guess it must be the gas. Anyway, it was good. They called us Joanna and Pinky. They called me Pinky because I broke my pinky when I was throwing a football."
Liz smirked.
"How did that relationship go?"
"It lasted about two months." He coughed. "I was a nerd in middle school, though," Jack quickly managed to mumble.
Liz looked amused.
"Were you now?" she asked.
Jack nodded.
"Explain."
Liz grabbed another bottle of wine and listened to Jack's story.
This was going to be a long night.

TBC.

Story #100: "Sisters Forever"

A/N: Wah. Messed up. Oh, well. This is the second 100th story :D Enjoy.

Spoilers: None
Pairing: Jack/Liz
Summary: "You're gonna have a baby brother or sister, sweetie."

Liddy gasped as she saw her dad's limo outside her school.
"Daddy!"
Jack smiled as he hugged his daughter.
"Where's Mommy?"
"She's at home, sweetie. We have big news for you. Now, come on. Get in the limo so we can go home."
Liddy walked in the limo and Jack told his driver the directions.
"I thought Auntie Jenna was going to pick me up!"
"No, honey. Mommy and Auntie Jenna had to stay late for work today."
"Daddy, are you and Mommy ever going to get married?"
Jack chuckled.
"Oh, pumpkin. Mommy and I have chosen not to get married, but I'll talk to her about it. We were married once before, you know."
Liddy looked at her weirdly.
"What do you mean? When you're married, isn't it supposed to last FOREVER?"
"It's supposed to be like that, but sometimes people stop loving each other. Your mommy and I accidentally got married when we weren't ready for it yet."
"Oh."
The rest of the ride home was quiet. That is, of course, until Jack's phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Did you pick up Liddy from school yet?"
"Yeah, she's sitting right next to me. You wanna talk to her?"
"Yeah, sure. Listen, I'd like to tell her now because I have a meeting in ten. I'm back at work."
"Is that Mommy? Is that Mommy?" Liddy asked.
"I'll put her on speaker for you, pumpkin."
Jack put Liz on speaker and Liddy started talking to no end.
"Liddy, I've got great news for you," Liz said.
"What is it, Mommy? What is it?"
"You're gonna have a baby brother or sister, sweetie!"
Liddy gasped.
"Really? No way! Can I feel your tummy later, Mommy?"
Liz chuckled.
"Of course you can, sweetheart. Now Mommy has to go because she has a very special meeting, okay? Bye, Liddy! I love you."
"I love you too, Mommy! I love you lots!"
Liz smiled, even though she knew they couldn't see her.
"Bye, Jacky. I'll see you tonight. Love you."
"Love you too, Liz. Now go to your meeting and knock 'em dead and meet me in our room tonight to...discuss personal matters."
He heard Liz chuckle before she hung up.
It was good to have a family like this. Liz liked it. Liddy went to school now and occasionally, Liz would take a day off to spend some time with Jack. She was having it all.
When she found out that she was pregnant, it was terrific news. Liz was getting her regular check-up before hiatus, and asked the doctor for other birth control options, since she kept forgetting to take the pill. The doctor smiled at her nicely and was about to write a prescription, until Liz changed her mind and decided to go with the pill again. The doctor prescribed it with her, but did a blood test just to be sure she wasn't pregnant already.
("Don't worry, I'm not pregnant!" Liz said.
"But, you do have a daughter, yes?"
"Oh, no, no. She's not my actual daughter. She's my long-term-boyfriend-short-term-husband's daughter."
"How interesting...would you like to tell me about it while the computer's generating the results?"
Liz smiled.
"Of course, doctor. My boyfriend-slash-husband's name is Jack. Jack had a girlfriend when we were just friends. She was pregnant. Unfortunately after I accidentally got married to Jack by a French captain when they thought that Jack married his girlfriend, she got held captive in North Korea. She is now currently Kim Jong Il's wife and is raising a beautiful American/Korean family. Jack and I were going to get our divorce papers signed, but there was always something distracting us. Eventually, we gave up. I moved into Jack's place to take care of Liddy and then we started to see each other more. I kissed him, he kissed me. You know how it goes. The end!"
"My, what an interesting story. Okay, you are..."
"I know," Liz smirked. "Not pregnant. You don't have to tell me."
"Actually, Miss Lemon, you are actually pregnant."
"Please repeat that."
The doctor showed Liz the papers.
"By the hammer of Thor!")
When Liz got home that night, Liddy ran up to her and hugged her.
"Where's my baby brother or sister?" Liddy asked, looking very disappointed.
"They're not here yet! They're still in mommy's stomach, growing."
"When will they come out?"
"Nine months from now, sweetie."
Liz saw Jack peeking out of their library.
"Hey, I didn't notice you were home," he said as he gave her a kiss.
"I just got here and I told Liddy all about her little brother or sister! Isn't that right, Liddy?"
Liddy nodded and smiled.
"Well, Daddy said I had to go whenever you guys are talking in your room tonight, so I'll be in my room."
Liz eyed Jack weirdly as he smirked.
"Yes, Liz. We do need to talk. Goodnight, Liddy."
Liz rolled her eyes as she sat up on the bed.
"What do we need to talk about?"
Jack sat behind her and kissed her neck.
"Just a talk...for the baby."
"Hang on."
Liz turned around to face Jack.
"What's wrong?" he asked her.
"I'm scared."
"Scared of what?"
"You know how a lot of things can go wrong with pregnancies? I feel like that's what might happen to me. I feel like the baby might not--"
Jack shushed her and let her cry on his shoulder for a little while.
"Don't worry. Nothing will happen to the baby. It's your first baby ever! Be excited."
Liz sniffled, then smiled.
"I am excited. Thanks."
Jack smiled back.
"Anytime. Now, how many weeks along are you?"
"Five," she said.
"Hmm."
"Five weeks ago! Oh my gosh. That was when I won the Emmy. We were in LA and Liddy was with Sherry. We had lots and lots and lots of sex that night, remember?"
Jack chuckled.
"Once in bed, twice in the shower and thrice on the table. Yes, I do remember that night quite well."
"Someone forgot to bring a condom that might," she said.
"Well, someone forgot to take her birth control pills. We're even, Liz Lemon."
Liz kissed him.
"You wanna replay that night?" she asked, with a sly smile on her face.
"I thought you'd never ask."
**
The next morning, Liz woke up to the sight of sunlight hitting her face. She looked up and noticed that Jack was looking at her with a smile on his face.
He kissed her forehead.
"Good morning," she said as she kissed him.
"Sleep well?" he asked her.
"Yeah. I was having a really good dream last night."
"Really? What about?"
"I dreamt that we were having sex all night," she said with a giggle.
"Really now? That's strange. I had the same dream."
"Hmm. How ironic."
"I do remember you saying, 'Oh man!' right after we finished. I assumed that was good?"
"Six times in one night, Jack. Obviously that was good."
Suddenly there was a knock on the door. The couple quickly put the covers up to their neck.
"Come in!" Jack said.
Liddy smiled as she entered the room.
"Good morning, sleepyheads! Why are you two so tired?" she asked.
"Me and Daddy had a very long talk last night."
"Can we go buy stuff for the baby?"
"Oh not yet, honey. We have to find out if you're having a brother or a sister."
"How long will that take?"
Liz chuckled.
"Oh, pumpkin. I promise it'll be soon."
Liddy smiled.
Just before Liz got up, Liz's phone started ringing.
"I'll get it!" Liddy yelled as she grabbed Liz's phone. She looked at the picture on the screen and saw the picture of Colleen.
"Gramma!"
Jack and Liz both froze. Why was Colleen calling them? Did she know?
"Hi, sweetheart. Is it okay if I talk to your mommy and daddy for a while?" Colleen asked her.
"Oh, sure. When are you coming back, Gramma?"
"Soon, dear. Very soon. I'll have presents for you."
"Yay! Bye, Gramma! Mommy! Gramma wants to talk to you and Daddy."
Liddy handed the phone to Liz and ran to the kitchen.
"Hello?"
Someone knocked on her door.
"Hang on, Colleen."
"URG. Jack, I need a shirt."
Jack grabbed his Princeton shirt from the floor as Liz put on her underwear.
Jack was looking at her the entire time.
"What?" she asked, chuckling.
"Oh, nothing. I just have a beautiful girlfriend."
"I'm your wife, remember that. You're not getting rid of me," she said, before kissing him.
"I don't plan on it."
Liz sat on his lap and the kiss started to get hot.
"No, Jacky. Not now. Your mother's on the phone and someone's knocking on the door."
Jack rolled his eyes.
"Elizabeth, you tease."
Liz kissed him again.
"I know. But you know you love it."
She got up and headed for the door.
"Hello, Colleen? Hang on. Someone's knocking. How--"
Liz opened the door and saw Colleen.
"I'm doing fine," she said with a smile.
"Honey, your mother's here!" Liz called out.
Liddy peeked to see who was at the door.
"GRAMMA!"
Liddy ran up to Colleen as fast as she could and practically attacked her with a hug.
"I'll go talk to Liddy. As I can see, you two are...very busy."
Liz chuckled nervously.
"Right. Well, I'm going to clean myself up. Jack will be in shortly."
"Oh, take your time. It's not like I'm in a hospital!"
Liz ran back to her room and searched for Jack.
"Jack? Honey, where are you?"
"I'm in here!" a voice in the bathroom said.
Liz ran to the bathroom and saw that Jack was shaving his face. He was starting to grow a mini-beard.
"How'd you get your hair to be like that?" she asked him.
It looked like he just got a haircut in under five minutes.
"It's a Donaghy family secret."
"Sheer willpower?" she suggested.
Jack chuckled.
"Maybe."
Liz walked out of their bathroom and put on her cupcake jammies.
She smiled at Jack, who was wearing a polo shirt and khaki pants.
"That's what you're going to wear to see my mother?"
Liz rolled her eyes.
"She's outside, Jack. She already saw me. No big deal."
Before Liz could open the door, Jack pinned her on it.
"Whoa, there. You okay?" she asked.
"I love you," he rasped.
Liz smiled.
"I love you too, Jack," and kissed him.
Jack pulled away. Apparently she didn't seem to understand.
"Liz, I LOVE you."
Liz chuckled.
"Jack, I know. I love you too."
Jack sighed and kissed her.
"What's wrong?" she asked him.
Jack kissed her again. This time, he smiled.
"Nothing. I'll tell you later."
Liz opened the door and made breakfast for her family and for Colleen.
When Liz set Jack's plate on the table, Jack smiled and thanked her by kissing her.
Liz chuckled.
"I love you," they both said to each other.
"Well! You two seem to love each other a lot," Colleen said, smiling.
Liz blushed.
After their breakfast, Jack told his mother that she was going to have a second grandchild. Colleen was pleased about this.
Also, before she left, he had a private talk with her.
Colleen gasped when she heard what he had just told her. She simply nodded, gave him what he wanted, and walked away.
Jack walked back in their house and saw Fallon, their maid-slash-nanny, taking care of Liddy.
"Fallon, I didn't realize you were here."
"Oh, hi, Mister Donaghy! No, I'm not here to be paid. I asked Miss Lemon if I could just spend a day with Liddy here, and she smiled and said yes."
"Actually, I do want you to stay here until later this evening."
"Oh. I'll be happy to do it. May I ask why?"
Jack lowered his voice and told Fallon what he was going to do this evening.
Fallon gasped.
"Yes, sir. I will stay here. Have a wonderful evening!," she said.
**
"You okay?" Jenna asked her on the phone.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Jack's inviting me to dinner today."
"Oh, cool!"
Liz chuckled.
"Yeah. It'll be fun. He seemed pretty excited."
"ALRIGHT EVERYBODY, GET READY," Liz heard on Jenna's end.
"Hey, Liz. I gotta go. I'll see you later okay?"
"Yeah, okay. Bye."
Liz hung up and looked for a dress.
"Hey, Fallon?"
"Yes, ma'am?"
"As an eighteen year old, which one of these dresses would you wear to a formal-slash-casual dinner?"
Fallon looked through her closet and chose the black-and-white dress. It was perfect.
She put on some make-up and straightened her hair.
"How do I look?" she asked Fallon.
Fallon gasped.
"You look beautiful, Miss Lemon."
Liz smiled.
"Bye, Liddy! Mommy's going to be here shortly. See you soon! Bye Fallon."
Fallon waved.
As Liz was on her way to her dinner, she received a text.
Jack: Almost here?
Liz: Yeah, I'm five minutes away. Where's this driver taking me?
Jack: Oh, you'll see. It's a surprise I know you'll love.
Liz: Does it involve food?
Jack: I'll see you later, Lizzie. Love you.
Liz: Urg. Ditto.
"We're here, Miss Lemon," the driver told her.
Liz got out of the car and thanked her driver. This building was funny-looking. She went inside and saw nothing. The room was pitch black.
"Jack?" Liz called out.
Suddenly, the lights turned on.
Liz saw everything. The band, the people, the big banner and most importantly, Jack.
He was down on one knee and the banner behind him said, "Elizabeth Lemon, will you marry me?"
She gasped.
"Is this real?" she asked him.
"As real as I can ever be. I've never been more sure of anything else in my life."
Liz looked around. She saw Jenna smiling at her. So this is where she was. Jenna actually kept a secret this time.
Liz gulped.
"If you say no, it's alright. I can wait," Jack said, smiling.
"No."
The people's smiles faded, and so did Jack's.
"No?"
"I don't want you to wait. Yes. I will marry you."
Jack's smile came back as he hugged Liz.
--
Nine months later:
"You may kiss the bride."
Just before their lips could touch, a cry was heard.
Liz chuckled. It was Ella, their baby daughter. Liz kissed Jack quickly and headed for the baby.
"Is she alright?" they both asked.
"She's fine, Jacky. Ella is alright. Now, go. Reception time!"
Jack and Liz both smiled at each other before a wave of applause erupted in the room.
"Let's go, Mrs. Donaghy, Jack said.
"After you, Mister Donaghy," she replied, smiling at their now-matching names.

Pairing: Jack/Liz
Summary: The Jack Donaghy playbook does not apply to Liz Lemon...or does it?

She was ready.
"Jonathan? Tell Jack I'll be up in five minutes. I have something very important to discuss with him."
Jonathan was very confused. Why was he involved? Couldn't they have just called each other?
"Mister Donaghy? Miss Lemon wants me to tell you that she has scheduled herself an appointment to meet you in five minutes."
"Meeting? She doesn't have to schedule one. Did she tell you why?"
Jonathan shook his head.
"She told me to tell you that it was very important."
Jack was trying to understand, but he just couldn't. What was so important? He told Jonathan to go back to work.
"Sir?"
Jack looked up.
"Welcome back."
Exactly five minutes later, there was a knock on the door.
"Come in--"
Jack was about to say "Lemon," but as he looked up from his desk, those red stilettos couldn't possibly be hers.
Those toned legs, that tight skirt that showed her curves, the blouse she wore that showed just enough cleavage, those blood-red lips and that straight brown hair that reached down to her chest? That's no Lemon.
"--Elizabeth."
She smiled slightly.
"Hi, Jack."
"To what do I owe you this pleasure?"
She pursed her lips and asked for a drink.
Those eyelashes batted at him as if she was reading his thoughts.
"Important meeting?" he asked, pointing at her attire for the day.
"What, this? Oh, no. I decided that to be a boss, you have to look and act like one. I mean, isn't that what you've always taught me?"
Jack nodded.
"I'm proud of you, Elizabeth. The student is becoming the teacher."
Liz chuckled nervously.
"Right. Anyway, I have an idea I want to propose to you."
"Alright, button-classic girl. Lay it on me."
And so she did. She grabbed the lapels of his suit and kissed him. Hard. Boy, did he kiss back.
"Hey, Jackie D., I need--OH SHIT!"
They both pulled away.
"Yes, Tracy?"
Liz chuckled at Jack. He had a really obvious lipstick stain on his lips.
"Never mind. You can keep making out with--LL! Is that you?"
Liz waved.
"I thought you were that sexual harassment lady from the fifteenth floor!"
Tracy walked away.
"Well, that was--"
"Dinner. You, Me. Plunder. Tonight."
She kissed him one more time, more passionately than the last.
"If I were you, I would sit down in my chair all day," Liz said, looking down at his whole situation down there, before walking away, leaving Jack to look at what he might be getting tonight.

--

She wasn't there when he got married.
TGS was long gone, and so was their friendship. So when Liz received a wedding invitation, she threw it in the trash.

--

A few weeks later, she received a phone call from someone she hadn't seen or heard from in two years.

"Hello?" she answered.
"Liz?" a familiar voice asked.
Liz gulped. Was this actually him calling?
"Yes, this is she. Who may I ask is calling?" she answered, even though she knew exactly who this was.
Jack chuckled.
"Lemon, don't make this harder than it needs to be. We're still friends."
When he said that, Liz automatically remembered the moment when he broke up with her.
("You wanted to see me?" she asked.
Jack told Liz to sit. For the past few days, their relationship had been everything but romantic. It was filled with fights and suspicions that both knew were true.
"It has come to my attention that we have not been agreeing with each other for quite some time now."
Liz nodded. As much as she knew what he was going to say, she didn't want it to be over. Deep down, she still had feelings for him that made her stomach turn upside-down, but her mind didn't feel the same.
"You want to end our relationship, right?" Liz asked, voice cracking when she said 'relationship'.
Jack sighed and nodded.
Liz closed her eyes and thought for a minute.
He slowly stood up from his seat and leaned in to kiss her one last time.
The kiss was bittersweet. It tasted of longing and love, but it also tasted of anger and sadness.
When they finally pulled away, Liz took off her engagement ring and wiped her tears away.
"Lemon, you must remember that sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes--"
"It hurts instead. Yeah, Jack. You told me."
"Lemon, I still love you."
"I know you do, Jack. Because I still love you, too. But we both know this isn't going to work. I'm sorry."
She hugged him one last time and whispered, "Goodbye," and left.
Jack shed a tear for her that night.
That was the end of TGS and Liz Lemon in his life.
"She'll find someone better," Jack said to himself.

The next day, Jack sent out an e-mail to everyone that the wedding would not be happening.
"Jackie-kins, are you serious?" Colleen asked over the phone.
"Yes, mother."
Ever since Colleen found out they were engaged, she helped Liz out in everything. But since that was over, she went into a dark mood.

When Liz got home that night, she tried her best to ignore Jack. She still stayed at his place because Jack said she could stay there until she found a new place.

She ended up staying at a hotel.

Jack came home from work, hoping to find Lemon in her room. Instead, he was greeted by a note.
"Jack, thank you for letting me stay at your place. Thank you for everything. Thank you for making me feel loved and giving me things that were just beautiful. Our relationship was wonderful. I'm glad that Colleen likes me. I've taken some of my things out and stayed at a hotel tonight. Take all my other things and give them to Jenna. She's gonna need it. In the three years I've been with you, I got to know another type of Jack. A softer, lovable, kinder, and understanding Jack. I hope you find the right girl for you. Tell Liddy Mommy said goodbye. Give her to Avery. It's the best decision. If you ever need anything, just call. I hope you understand that this is a hard time for me, too. I loved you, Jack. I really did. To be honest, I still do. But ever since our fights, I love you...just as a brother."
"You were the one. You were the one who got away," Jack told the letter.
He kept Liz's clothes and gave Liddy to Avery. He visited her once every month, but Liddy didn't feel that Avery was her mother. She did spend her first three years of living with Liz.
"Daddy?" Liddy asked.
"Yes, pumpkin?"
"Is Mommy ever gonna come home?" she asked shyly.
Even though Liz was not her birth mother, Jack swore she sounded like Liz there.
He took a deep breath and sighed.
"Someday," he said with real hope.)
"Lemon, are you crying?"
Liz snapped back to reality and realized she was still on the phone with him.
"No, I'm not crying."
There was a long pause.
"Lillian and I have gotten married."
"Oh," she chuckled with fake enthusiasm "How wonderful. Who's Lillian again?"
"Lillian is the yoga instructor I met during my summer vacation trip to Rome."
Liz remembered that Rome was where they were supposed to get married, but she set that aside.
She cleared her throat.
"Um, how old is she?"
"She's twenty-seven."
Liz took a breath and was about to say something, but no words came out.
"Are you still there?" he asked her.
"I'm here."
"What's the matter, Lemon? Why are you acting so shy? It's not usual for you to be so quiet."
"I'm fine, hon--Jack. I'm fine, Jack."
Damn that word vomit.
"Let's meet up. How's your place at seven sound?"
"I'm not so sure that--"
"Lizzy, it's going to be fun."
"Fine. Your plan sounds great."
There was an even longer pause.
"Jack, I want to tell you something," Liz said.
"I'm listening."
"So, remember when we--"
"Jack! I'm home!" someone from Jack's line said.
"Lizzie, I'm sorry. Lily's home. I'll talk to you tomorrow night, alright?"
"I'm not so sure about that idea."
"No worries, it'll be--"
By that time, Liz had already hung up, but never forgot that he called her "Lizzy." It's been two years since she last heard that come out of his mouth.

--

The next morning, Liz woke up and went to the kitchen. She grabbed a bowl, some cereal and milk. She sat down on the table and ate silently. Her apartment felt cold, alone. The only noise she could hear were the sounds of people laughing and cars honking down below. After two years, she was still trying to get accustomed to her apartment. She was still used to her old apartment--correction, Jack's apartment, the Lemon-Donaghy residence--and sometimes went in the wrong room.
After she ate her breakfast, she got dressed and prepared for the evening to come.

--

That night, Jack was deciding what to wear. Should he go with the tux or the polo shirt? Liz has seen him with both. Since he was just going to her house, he decided to go with the polo shirt.
"Where are you going?" Lillian asked.
"At a friend's."
Lillian rolled her eyes.
"Whatever, dude. I'll be at Nate's party. It's gonna be SICK!"
Jack was about to say something, but he sighed instead as he walked out the door. He drove his own car to Liz's place. When he got to the outside of her building, he checked his phone to see if he had any missed calls. None.
Lillian was probably going to be intoxicated by the end of the evening, so he decided to make these few hours last. It was Elizabeth Lemon after all.
He took the elevator to her floor and knocked on her door.
No response.
He knocked again.
No response either.
He then just decided to call Liz. Her picture was from such a long time ago. Liz was holding Liddy and they were both smiling. It was his favorite picture of her.
"Hello?"
"Lemon, where are you? You said seven."
"Oh, CRAP! Jack, can you go back to your car and wait there for at least five minutes? I knew I was forgetting something."
Jack chuckled.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
"I'm like, almost there! Hang on. I went shopping today. I'll call you when you can come in."
"Alright. See you soon, Lemon."
Those words made Liz's heart beat faster than usual. Huh, she thought. Maybe it was just the speed she was running. She went into her apartment, put on her dress as fast as she could, set up the table and called Jack.
Five minutes later, someone knocked on the door.
"It's open!" she yelled.
Someone ran to Liz.
"Jack, why are you on my--" Liz gasped. "Liddy Colleen Elizabeth Donaghy! Is that you?!"
"MOMMY!!!" Liddy yelled.
Liz picked her up and hugged her.
"Oh, Mommy missed you so much! How's it like living with Avery?"
"Avery's nice, Mommy. But, you'll always be a better mommy to me," Liddy said, smiling.
Liz tried really hard to fight back her tears. Then, she saw Jack slowly coming in and taking his coat off.
"She really wanted to see you," he said, chuckling.
"Hey there. It's been too long."
Liz smiled and hugged him.
Jack kissed her on the cheek.
She blushed, but disregarded it.
"You look nice," he told her.
"Oh, thanks. You look..."
"Old?" he suggested.
Liz chuckled.
"No. You seem...homey. Like, you're laid-back now."
"Mommy, can I sleep here?" Liddy asked.
Liz turned to look at Jack as he nodded.
"I'll give you Avery's address and her number. She lives about fifteen minutes away from you."
"So, I can?"
Jack nodded.
"Yes, pumpkin. You can spend the night here at mommy's house."
"Yay! Well, I'm tired now. Mommy, Daddy, can you both tuck me in?"
"Oh, I'm not so sure--"
"Lighten up, Jack. She just wants us to tuck her in."
Jack walked Liz to Liddy's room and put his hand on the small of her back. Liz gasped at this physical contact.
"Bedtime story!" Liddy said.
"Alright, pumpkin. Which story do you want to hear?" Liz asked.
"I want to hear the story of how Daddy asked you to marry him!"
Liz chuckled.
"Oh, wow. That goes back a long way."
"We can't remember it, honey. It was a long time ago. Maybe next time, okay?"
Liddy nodded.
Jack and Liz started to stand up, but Liddy stopped them.
"Wait!"
They turned around.
"Yes, pumpkin?" they said simultaneously.
"Don't parents kiss each other goodnight?"
Liz's heart jumped.
Jack just stared at her, acting like nothing was wrong.
"Please, for me?" asked Liddy, with her cute begging face.
Before Liz could answer, Jack put one hand on Liz's chin as he leaned in.
Liz closed her eyes and leaned in as well.
When they kissed, it felt too familiar. Like, they did it yesterday. The kiss was a loving kiss, not passionate. It felt like he was sending a message to her. But it was cut short by Liddy going "ew" when it got a little too long.
Liz pulled away first. They were both red-faced and trying to catch their breath.
"Goodnight, Liddy," Liz said before she turned off the lights and shut the door.
"Are you okay?" Jack asked her as they ate dinner.
"Yeah, I'm fine. It's pretty quiet. You wanna order pizza and watch TV?"
Jack smiled and nodded.
"Just like old times," he said.
When the pizza arrived, Liz sat down on the couch and Jack copied.
"Alright! Half pepperoni, half cheese. Turn on the TV, Jack."
Jack turned on the TV, but instead of finding Star Wars playing, something else was.
"What's this video?" Liz asked.
"It's--" Jack paused. "It's our fake wedding video. The one Jenna took when we were rehearsing."
"Really? I don't remember putting that in there. I'll take it out."
Jack stopped her.
"No, no. I wanna see this."
Thirty minutes and half a pizza box later, Jack had his arm over Liz and they were laughing together.
"You have some pizza stain on your face," Liz told him as she looked up.
"Where?"
"Don't worry, I got it."
She grabbed a napkin and rubbed the pizza stain off.
"There. Done," she said, smiling.
Jack chuckled.
"What's so funny?" she asked him.
"Nothing, Lemon."
Liz smiled at him again, before she put her head on his shoulder.
"Okay," she said, before falling asleep.
It was really something though. Jack hadn't been this happy in years. He'd really missed Liz in his life. There really was no one that could replace her. She was the one. The only one.
Jack slowly stood up and laid a blanket over Liz.
He really liked this. One family under one roof. Brings back memories. He thought he could never get this back. But something about this night gave him hope.
He grabbed a piece of paper and began to write.
"Dear Lillian..."

END.

Almost to my 100th fic!

Hi, guys! I'm sorry if I haven't been writing. There's just been a lot going on with school and life and all those other things. The next two stories I'll post are what I like to call my "100." You know how 30 Rock's 100th episode was divided into two parts? Well, that's how mine's going to be, except they won't be related to each other. I couldn't choose which should have the honor for being the 100th story, so I just chose both. I have much more in store for you guys and I hope you'll continue to read my stories!

Til next time,
Abby

Free Hugs

Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Not mine
Spoilers: None
Pairing: Jack/Liz
Summary: Christmastime is here again.
A/N: The title is based on the movie Olivia Wilde's directing. 30 Rock needs to come back or this'll be the end of my Jack/Liz writing.

"Merry Christmas, Jack!" Liz yelled as she walked in his office.
Jack looked up from his papers. Impressive. Lemon was wearing a winter dress with a winter coat. No weird vests or sweaters or a bad haircut.
He stood up from his chair and grabbed something from his drawer.
"Merry Christmas, Lemon. What do you say we go open our presents in the writers room? It's more lively there."
Liz shrugged and agreed.
When they got to the room, everyone was waiting for them with presents in hand.
"Can we open our presents now?" Jenna asked.
Jack nodded.
Liz gave Jack her present to him.
"Go on. Open it," she said smiling.
Jack opened the present and found a box full of stuff.
"There's a picture of you and Liddy there, a coupon book made by me, a tie for you, and little tiny socks for Liddy."
"Lemon, this is wonderful. Thank you. I will read the coupon book later."
"Oh, about that."
Liz reached for the coupon book and ripped one page out.
"Free hug?" she asked, smiling.
Jack nodded and hugged her.
"There's some I left blank in there. That's for you to write whatever you want like 'Buy Lemon Food' or 'Let Lemon Babysit.' Stuff like that. Now, what's my present?"
Jack got down on one knee and held up his present to her.
Everyone stopped and turn to look at them.
"Whatcha doin' there, Jacky?"
"Just preparing."
Jack opened the present for her and asked her a question.
"Elizabeth Lemon, I would be the happiest man on Earth if you would...go to lunch with me and the crew."
Liz rolled her eyes.
"Say yes, Liz!" Jenna yelled.
Liz smirked.
"Fine. Let's go, everyone!"
Jack tore a page from the book. Two coupons already, he thought.
At the restaurant, everyone was talking really loud. They were all in line waiting for the waitress to give them their table.
"A party of eleven, sir?"
Jack nodded.
As soon as a table opened, they all grabbed their seats. Jenna and Jack both grabbed the same seat next to Liz, but Jack pushed Jenna out of the way.
Jenna frowned and sat in the middle of Danny and Kenneth instead.
"What's your problem, Jack?" Jenna asked him.
"Okay! Go get your food."
Everyone stood up to go, except Jack.
"Hey, aren't you gonna eat?" Liz asked him.
Jack shook his head.
"I'll go after everyone has. I need to tell the waiter what I want for a drink. It has to be exactly and precisely said or they'll get it wrong."
Liz chuckled.
"Whatever floats your boat, dude."
It took everyone two hours to eat until they were full. Three, for Liz.
"Whoo! I am full and drunk! Who wants to play Truth or Dare? I got the bottle right here!" Liz said.
Everyone agreed to play, so Liz spun the bottle to see who would go first. It landed on Danny.
"Danny! Truth or dare?" Liz asked him.
"Truth."
"If you're from Canada, why don't you have an accent?"
Jack scoffed.
"Lemon, you can't just ask people why they don't have an accent."
"I used to have an accent, Liz. Kenneth helped me get rid of it."
"Oh. That's nice."
Danny spun the bottle and it landed on Jenna. He sighed.
"Jenna--"
"Dare!" she yelled.
"Okay, um...go make out with a beer bottle."
Jenna gave him a disgusted look, but did what she was told anyway.
After she did, she spun the bottle and it landed on Jack. She had an evil smile on.
"Jack, truth or dare?"
"I will not share any of my secrets with you, so I will respectfully choose a dare."
Everyone "ooh"ed at Jack.
Jenna smirked.
"Give me a pen, Frank," she said.
She wrote something down on a napkin and told Jack to read it privately.
Jack's eyes widened as he read what Jenna had wrote.
"Alright, everyone. Let's continue this game at my office. It's Christmas after all."
"I'm watching you, Donaghy," Jenna said.

At Jack's office:

"So, what'd Jenna put on the napkin?" Frank asked.
"She told me to grab the beer bottle and play Seven Minutes in Heaven with whoever it stopped on."
"Well? Are you?" Jenna asked impatiently.
Jack sighed and put the bottle on the table and asked every girl in the whole building to gather around it.
There were pages, newscasters, janitors and writers there just hoping that the bottle would stop at them so they could kiss Jack Donaghy. Everyone, except Liz. She wasn't too thrilled. She just wanted to go home and eat a sandwich.
Jack spun the bottle and everything/everyone got silent. Liz was eating some leftover shrimp when she saw everyone staring at her.
"What's everyone staring at?" she asked them.
"Look at the bottle," one woman said.
She looked at the bottle and saw that it was pointing directly right at her.
"Is it pointing to the girl next to me?" she asked Jack.
Jack shook his head and told her to go with him to the bathroom.
All the ladies that went to his office sighed and left the room.
"Well, see you guys in seven minutes!" Jenna yelled as she shut the bathroom door.
"Go! Everyone go!" she whispered.
"You never take a dare from Jenna! Look what she got us into," Liz mumbled.
"Don't worry, Lemon. They're gone. See, I can just--"
Jack tried to open the door, but it wouldn't budge.
"Uh-oh," he said.
"Uh-oh? What do you mean by Uh-oh?!"
"It seems as if we're stuck here."
Liz's jaw dropped.
"Can't you call anyone?"
Jack shook his head.
"I left my phone out there in the office."
Liz groaned.
"How are we gonna get out of here?"
"I don't know, Lemon. I just don't know."
Liz sighed as she sat next to Jack in the bathtub, watching the news.
"This is going to be a long Christmas."

The Daughters of Jack Donaghy

Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Not mine
Spoilers: None
Pairing: Jack/Liz
Summary: Liddy and her younger half-sister have a talk. (Liddy's twenty-one here.)

Liddy took a deep breath and walked to the podium to speak. Everyone was wearing black. Her mother, Ella (her sister), and other family friends.
"Um. Hello, everyone. Thanks for coming. My father was a great man. I remember this one time when I was nervous for my flute recital. He told me to do my best because when he was young, he played the flute in front of his entire hockey team and had no shame. He also told me that he'd play His flute backstage and I'd just pretend I was playing if I didn't really wanna do it."
Liddy chuckled as she noticed she had tears in her eyes.
"Anyway, my dad made GE a flourishing company. He made my mom's show, TGS, get sky-shooting ratings. As TGS reaches its 26th anniversary, I remember the story that both my mom and dad kept telling me because I always wanted to hear it. I wanted to hear their story of how they met and that somehow always made me happy. My dad will always stay in my heart and I hope he'll be remembered for many generations to come. Thank you."
Liddy stepped off the podium and walked outside to where her mother was.
"Hi, mom," she said before hugging her.
"You did so good, honey!"
"Mom, it's okay. You don't have to cry. I mean, you have me and Ella."
"That's true," Ella said.
"Oh, Ella. I'm glad you could come. I know you were busy with college and everything--"
"Mom. It's okay. You and Dad mean the world to me."
Liz sniffled.
"Your father...wanted to give this to both of you. We never gave it because we felt that you didn't need it. You can keep it for yourselves, or someday, maybe you can give it to your children," Liz said as she gave the tapes to them.
"You want to walk with us?" Ella asked.
"No thanks. I'm gonna go talk with the other people here. Thanks again for coming," Liz told them with a sad smile.
Liddy and Ella hugged their mom one last time before turning around and heading to Central Park.
"So, how's college?" Liddy asked her.
"Cut the crap, Lids. What was that about?"
"What are you talking about?"
"That was so fake! You hated dad. You hated how he wanted you to be the best in everything."
"Shut up. I wanted to be like mom, alright? I wanted to be a writer and that's that."
Ella scoffed.
"She's not even your real mom."
That hit Liddy and she ran to her car.
"Stupid word vomit. Liddy, wait!"
Ella ran after Liddy.
"What do you want?!" Liddy yelled.
"I just wanted to say that I'm sorry. It didn't mean for it to come out like that."
Ella opened the car door and sat on the seat.
Liddy sighed.
"You don't understand, Ella. My birth mom left me."
"Why didn't you tell me this before? When we were teenagers, you always said that your mom left you when you were young and you never knew her."
"When I was just a little baby, Avery, my birth mother, got held captive in North Korea. Dad did everything to get her back, but it was too late. So, mom helped dad out with taking care of me. They never really started dating until she found out that she was pregnant with you."
Ella smirked.
"I remember dad saying that they 'made' me because they were afraid that the world would end."
They shared a laugh.
"I'm really sorry about earlier, though," Ella said.
"No, it's fine. I just can't think right now."
"Where's Will, by the way?"
"He's out there talking to mom."
Ella smiled.
"He's good for you, Liddy."
Liddy hugged Ella.
"I know he is."
Liddy turned the radio on in her car and they both laughed as they heard a familiar song.
"Sitting on a park bench! Neer, neer, neer. I don't know the words except park bench!" they yelled as they laughed.
"This was dad's song!" Liddy yelled.
"You wanna go get pizza?" Ella asked.
"Just like old times?"
"Let's order two and see who can shotgun it!"
"Deal!"

Younger Companion

Disclaimer: Not mine
Spoilers: None.
Pairing: Jack/Liz
Summary: Jack gets paid to date Liz.

After a long day at work, Pete and Liz decided to take the subway to go home.
Pete noticed that Liz was staring at the couple who was sitting together closely.
"What's up? Why are you staring at them?" Pete asked Liz.
"Well, look. I'm just sick and tired of seeing these couples having so much romantic moments. It makes me feel more lonely than I already am."
Pete laughed.
"Since when did you start caring about having a relationship?" he asked, smirking.
Liz looked at him and he saw that her eyes were watering.
"I'm forty, Pete. I used to believe that by the time I hit forty, I would have a gorgeous husband, two kids and Emily Dickinson the cat."
"Well, you have one. You have Emily Dickinson. And hey, you've been married once. To Jack, remember? Just wait, Liz. It'll all come true one day."
Liz sniffled.
"Sometimes I wonder if I was made single."
"Are you on your woman times this week?" Pete asked jokingly.
Liz scoffed.
"Shut up, Pete."
They stayed quiet until Liz's phone started ringing.
"Hello? Oh, hey Jack. No, I'm with Pete. No, no. We're on the subway. I'm almost home. Why? I know, they have really good signal down here, which is strange..."
"Lightbulb!" Pete yelled.
"...uh, hang on, Jack. What, Pete?"
"What if I pay Donaghy to go on a date with you?"
"What?!"
"Come on, it'll seriously work. And hey, if you're that desperate--"
"I'm not desperate!" she yelled.
"I'd be okay with it," Jack said through the phone.
"Hang on, Pete. What'd you say, Jack?"
"I said, I'd be okay with it."
"Okay with what?"
"Pete paying me to take you out on a date. He could pay for dinner."
Liz scoffed.
"What are you talking about? Don't you have a date with some supermodel tomorrow night?"
She could hear Jack laughing through the phone.
"I never said it had to be tomorrow night. We'll talk about it more tomorrow, okay?"
Liz hung up.
"You stupid--"
"Hey, it's your station!" Pete yelled.
Liz eyed him closely.
"I'm watching you, Hornberger."
Pete gave himself a pat on the back. Liz said his good ideas come once in a decade, but no. That's twice in a decade!
**
The next morning, Liz was about to step out of her apartment to go to work when Jack walked in.
"You, me, dinner. Saturday."
Liz rolled her eyes.
"That is so not a proper way to ask someone to dinner."
Jack sighed and go down on one knee.
"Elizabeth Christina Lemon--"
"That's not my middle name."
"--will you go to dinner with me on Saturday night?"
"Hmm. I'll think about it."
"Think about it? What do you mean--"
"I gotta get to work."
"Will you think about it in the limo if I give you a ride?"
"What? No, Jack. I'm gonna take a taxi."
"We're stopping by for ice cream," he said.
"Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!" Liz said as she ran downstairs.
"The man just proposed," an old man said to his wife as they passed by.
"No!! Really?" the elderly wife replied with a sarcastic tone.
**
It was finally Saturday night. Liz put the final touches of her makeup and waited for Jack to knock on her door.
At exactly seven o' clock, that did happen.
"Wow. You clean up nice," Jack told her.
Liz smiled.
"Off to our date, madam?"
"Certainly, kind sir."
Jack took her to this wonderful restaurant where they served both fried chicken AND fancy food.
"Wow. It's like a mix of my favorite foods and your favorite foods. They should call this Lemon-Donaghy," Liz joked.
Jack chuckled.
"What's up? Why are you so quiet tonight?" Liz asked him.
"It's nothing."
But it really was something. Seeing Liz like this, dressing up for him was...wow. There was something about her that made his heart skip a beat. He really felt bad that he was paid to do this. He should return the money, because he was really enjoying this.
They laughed and drank some fancy, expensive wine for about an hour or two.
"You want to dance?" Jack asked her.
"I didn't know you could dance," Liz said.
"Oh, trust me. I can."
They danced for a while, but Liz saw that it was getting late.
"We should probably go," she said.
Jack nodded and followed her outside. He called for a limo and they went straight to her house. Jack walked her up to her apartment.
"I had a great time tonight," Jack said.
"Yeah, me too."
"I feel really bad for taking Pete's money. I'll give it back to him tomorrow. How about a second date next Saturday?"
Liz smiled, and chuckled nervously.
"Jack, we would never work out."
"And why is that?"
"It's simple, really. I'm casual, you're fancy. I work with poor morons, you work with high-class people."
"But that's the point, Lemon. Our personalities clash. It didn't work out between you and Carol because you two were too alike, and that was the same thing that happened between Avery and me. They say that two people with two different personalities end up making something beautiful."
Liz kissed him on the cheek.
"Good first date, Jack," she said.
"Wait, you said first. After first, there's technically going to be a second...right?"
Liz smiled.
"I'll see you Monday morning at work," Liz said as she closed the door.
"I will have you, Liz Lemon. Mark my words."
"I heard that!" Liz yelled.
"That was the point!" he yelled back.
**
Monday morning came and Liz woke up to the face of Casey Anthony on her television.
"Ugh. That girl cannot get pregnant again. Who knows what she'll do to that child?" she told herself.
She went to the restroom to fix her hair and when she came back, Jack was sitting on the edge of her bed, television remote in hand.
Liz gasped and put her hand on her chest to let him know how much he scared her.
"Jack! What are you...what are you doing here?"
"I made you breakfast," he said.
Liz chuckled.
"That's nice. How did you get in here?"
"Oh. You gave me a key, remember?"
Liz shook her head.
"It was the day when you had oral surgery on Valentine's Day last year. You can have it back if you need it."
"No. Absolutely not. You can keep it. I mean, if you want it."
Jack's eyebrows were raised when Liz said that.
Liz rolled her eyes.
"Never mind. Give me the key. Now."
"No, I think I'll keep it."
"Jack!"
"You haven't an answer yet."
"An answer for what?!"
"If you want to have another date on Saturday."
"What?!"
"If you don't answer, you'll have to go on a date with me every day this week."
"WHAT?!" Liz shrieked.
Jack smiled.
"I'll see you tonight. And the next night, and the one after that..."
Liz stomped her foot on the ground.
"Damn you, Donaghy," she said.
"What can I do? It's in my blood, I guess."
"Yeah, well if I punch you, there will be blood!"
Jack ran to the door.
"See you at work, Lemon!"
Liz slammed the door.
"What have I gotten myself into?" she asked herself.

What's Your Drink, Pumpkin?

Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Not mine.
Spoilers: None
Pairing: Jack/Liz
Summary: Jack takes Liz out for a drink. Title is based on what Archie wrote in Brett's book in "Suburban Girl."
A/N: I love that movie to death. Sometimes I think of it as my life story, but then again, I don't. The movie makes me cry SO MUCH!

"Hey, Liz. They're out of Cheetos...so I think I'll just head home."
"What? Frank, you can't do that! I am NOT staying here to do all these re-writes!"
"Save that for the honeymoon."
"What honeymoon?!"
"Hey, I ask the questions around here. Not you. I'll just...come here whenever."
"Frank! Come on! You stupid fungdark."
Frank waved goodbye at her.
Just as Frank left, Jack came in the writers' room.
"Can you fire Frank?" Liz asked.
"I don't have to. You can do that yourself. You're their boss after all."
"Yeah. But I don't like firing people."
"Why? It's the beauty of being a boss."
Liz chuckled.
"So, are you staying here all night to get some re-writes done?"
Liz rolled her eyes.
"Whatever. I can do them tomorrow. There's no way in hell that I'm staying up for work. Hey, can you sign my book?"
Jack laughed.
"You actually bought my book?" he asked.
"No, you fungdark. You gave it to me yesterday. I want you to sign it because I can tell my children or grandchildren that I was best friends with the legendary John Francis Donaghy."
"And once married, don't forget that. That'll give you a lot of stories to tell," Jack said.
Liz handed him the book and Jack signed it.
"To Elizabeth Lemon, my ex-wife who I loved for some brief seconds and my best friend."
Liz chuckled as Jack gave the book back to him. On the corner of the page, he wrote, "What's your drink, pumpkin?"
Jack looked at her as she was reading it.
"You want to go to a bar?" she asked him.
"No, of course not. I have wine at my house. We can grab some and take them to the park while I take Liddy to her evening stroll."
Liz smiled.
"Sounds good to me," she said, as she threw the re-writes in the air.
Jack took her to his apartment where she chose what drink she wanted. After having so many choices, she just told Jack that she'll have what he's having.
"Are you sure, Lemon? My drink's pretty strong," he said.
"I don't care. If anything, just give me something so strong that I'll fall in love with the first man I see. Do you have that?"
Jack sighed.
"I'll look."
Liz walked to where Liddy's crib was and she started talking to her.
"Hi, Liddy! It's your Auntie Lizzy! You were named after me, you know? Well, your middle name, at least."
Liddy smiled as Liz picked her up and carried her.
"Who's a good baby? Who's a good baby?" Liz said, in her baby-cooing voice.
"I think she gets it, Lemon. No need to scare her," Jack said from the kitchen.
"Hey! She needs some praise. She didn't get that from you or Avery."
Jack laughed.
"Do you think you can stop by Saturday morning to go with Liddy and me to see Winnie-the-Pooh?"
Liz gasped.
"Do I get in for free?" she asked.
Jack nodded.
"Oh my gosh! I love Winnie-the-Pooh! I will so be there, Jack."
Jack smiled as he gave her the drink.
"See you then. Now, come on. Put Liddy in the stroller and let's take a walk in the park."
"Hang on. What are we going to do with the glasses after we're done?"
"Put them in the trash can. It's not like they're my only wine glasses, Lemon."
Liz snorted as she agreed.
She put Liddy in the stroller and they walked to the park.
"Proximity without intimacy," Jack said as they arrived at the park.
"Excuse me?" Liz asked.
"A wise man told me that that was his definition of hell."
"What, closeness without romance?"
Jack nodded.
Liz laughed.
"That's not true. Wow, that drink really worked. That was only one, right?"
Jack nodded.
"Really? That felt like two," she said.
Liddy began crying.
"Oh, no. I never know what to do whenever she starts to cry."
"Don't worry, Jack. I can handle this."
Liz got Liddy out of the stroller and carried her. She was gently rocking the baby to sleep. Soon enough, she started to fall asleep.
"That's a good baby," Liz said as she put her back in the stroller.
Jack roared in laughter.
"That is amazing! How did you do that?" he asked.
"I have my ways."
They talked and talked for what seemed like hours, but but no one bothered to look at the time until later on.
"Yikes! Do you know that it's two in the morning?" Liz asked.
Jack's eyes widened.
"We need to take you home."
Liz bit her lip and chuckled nervously.
"Just a few problems. I'm really tired...and I left my key in my office back at work. Can I stay with you until tomorrow morning?"
Jack smiled.
"Be our guest."
When they got home, Jack was making the bed and getting one of the toothbrushes he bought in case there were guests.
"Now, the bed is more comfortable than you think. There's a toothbrush here in case you need it and I'll get you--"
Jack saw that Liz fell asleep on his bed with Liddy near her.
He smiled as he took Liddy and put her back in the crib and went to sleep on the other side of the bed.
"Good night, Pumpkin."
**
The next morning, Liz woke up to the sound of Jack making a phone call. He seemed pretty into the call, so Liz guessed that it was probably a business call. He looked different, though. He was still wearing the blue dress shirt and everything, but there was something different about it. Some buttons were popped, his tie was disheveled and his hair was a mess.
"Thank you, gentlemen. I appreciate that. I will see you at the business meeting this afternoon," Jack said.
He hung up and saw that Liz was awake.
"Hey, you're up early," he said.
Liz chuckled.
"Let's just say that someone's bed was really comfortable and it gave me the best sleepy-time of my life."
Jack laughed.
"Did you not change into sleeping clothes after we got here?" she asked him.
"I would say the same about you, but you don't live here."
Liz chuckled.
"No, I was so tired from last night that I literally just fell on the bed," he said.
"Funny story, I think I did the same."
Jack chuckled and rolled his eyes.
"Alright. Let's get some breakfast so we can go to work."
Liz groaned.
"I don't want to go to work yet. You can go whenever you want. Can you tell Pete I'll be coming in late?"
"What if he asks why?" Jack asked.
"Tell him that I'm tired and that I'm arriving whenever you are."
Jack chuckled.
"Sounds good enough," he said.
"Meanwhile, I'll call Jenna. She's probably already looking for me."
Jack gave her a thumbs-up as he dialed Pete's number.
"TGS, this is Pete Hornberger speaking. How may I help you?"
"Pete, it's Jack. Lemon's coming in a little late today."
"Oh my God, why? Is she sick?"
"No. She's doing perfectly well. She's just really tired since she spent the night with me last night, so she'll be arriving about the same time I might be coming in."
"And what time is that?"
Jack chuckled.
"Pete, I'm your boss. I can come in whenever I want to. I could probably be on may way now or I could possibly arrive there in two to three hours."
"Jack, you can't do that! The writers are doing nothing!"
"Again, I'm your boss. You're their boss, so you can fire them."
Pete groaned.
"Fine. I'll see you and Liz later."
Jack hung up.
"The Girlie Show, this is Jenna Maroney speaking. I'm blond and yes, I am twenty-nine. How may I help you?"
Liz scoffed.
"Jenna, it's Liz."
"Oh, hey Liz! Where are you anyway?"
"I'm coming in late," she said.
"Why?" Jenna asked.
"I was with Jack all night and I don't know how long I stayed up with him, but now I'm tired. My legs are sore and I can't walk. So, I'll just be arriving whenever Jack does, okay?"
Jenna burst out laughing.
"HAHAHA! Oh my God. Nice one, Liz. Now tell me, where are you really at? Come on, did Jack do you that hard?"
Liz rolled her eyes.
"Jack, explain to Jenna where I was last night," she said as she gave him her phone.
Jack sighed.
"Jenna, Elizabeth was with me last night and I can tell you right now that she is telling the truth. We stayed up until two in the morning or something. She spent the night at my house and she's really tired. So, we'll be there in a few hours."
Jenna smirked.
"I gotcha," Jenna said as she hung up.
"Are your legs really sore?" he asked Liz.
Liz nodded.
"I didn't know we walked two miles last night," she said.
"Well, of course. It was Central Park after all. You want me to give you a massage?"
Liz thought about it for a moment.
"Nah, I'm good. Let's go to your gym room."
"You want to exercise with sore legs?"
"Feel the burn!" she said.
Jack laughed.
"Okay, Lemon. By the way, you are responsible for buying your own work-out clothes."
Liz tried to explain, but Jack stopped her.
"I'm kidding. I'll get Jonathan to buy you some and he'll deliver it straight here."
"That'll add to his list of why he hates me."
Jack smirked.
"We'll see, Lemon."
About half an hour later, someone knocked on the door.
"I'll get it, Jack. It's probably Jonathan," Liz said.
Sure enough, it was Jonathan and he didn't look too happy. He brought Liz some work-out clothes that Jack ordered him to buy, a water bottle and a tennis racket. He put on a fake but painful smile.
"Here you go, Miss Lemon," he said.
Liz chuckled.
"Thank you, Jonathan. Oh, by the way, tell Jenna that I'll be 'burning some calories' with Jack," Liz said before shutting the door in front of him.
Jonathan's jaw dropped.
Meanwhile Liz went to the bathroom to put on her work-out clothes.
"Dang. These pants hug my butt TIGHT!" she yelled.
Jack laughed.
"How's it going over there, Lemon?" he asked.
"Great! One question, though. Why'd you let him buy me a work-out bra?"
Jack scoffed.
"Come on, Lemon. You don't wear a tee-shirt to work-out."
"What about a--"
"No. Not a spaghetti strap either. Tie your hair and put on your contacts...and tie your shoes."
"How did you even know I had my contacts in my bag?" he asked.
"I just can, Lemon. Plus, I got Jonathan to get you an extra pack."
Liz rolled her eyes.
"Don't roll your eyes," he said.
"How did you--"
"Just get out here so I can see you!"
"You sound like my mother when I was trying out my prom dress," Liz joked.
"You didn't go to prom."
Liz came out of the restroom and turned around.
"Yay. Lemon wore her work-out clothes. How do I look?" she asked him.
Jack gasped.
"My, my. Lemon, you look like a woman who actually wants to work-out."
Liz smirked.
"I take that as a compliment."
"As well you should. Now, onward to the gym room!"
Jack walked her to the room and as soon as they got there, Liz got on the treadmill.
"Come on! Get on the other one, Jack!" Liz said.
Liz put her earphones on as she was on the treadmill. Jack, on the other hand, flipped the channel to Fox News.
Thirty minutes into the workout, Liz took her earphones off, shut the treadmill down, and grabbed her water bottle.
"You okay?" Jack asked her.
Liz nodded.
"Why don't we just go running for real? At Central Park?"
"We need to get to work. It's already noon."
"Oh."
Jack saw that Liz looked sad, so he decided to make her happy by saying that they could have a morning jog on Sunday.
Liz smiled.
"Really? That'd be great," she said.
"It's a jog, then. So, here's the plan for today. We leave in an hour, so you need to take a quick shower. We'll get fast-food for lunch at one of your favorite McDonalds or Burger King to-go. Then, we go our normal ways. If you still can't find your key, you're welcome to stay with me since we have tickets to see Winnie-the-Pooh tomorrow. Got it?"
Liz nodded.
"Yes, sir!" she yelled.
**
"One ten piece Chicken McNuggets, two large French Fries, one Iced Mocha, and one Dr. Pepper."
"Will that be all, sir?"
"Yes, I think so."
"Well, your total is--"
"Wait!" Liz yelled.
"What, Lemon?"
"Scoot over! I have an order."
"Yes, ma'am?" the man asked.
"I will take two chocolate-dipped cones."
"Is that it for you today?"
"Yup."
"Yes, your total will be $15.67. Please pull up to number one."
"Thank you!" Liz yelled as Jack pulled up the window.
"That was so immature of you," Jack said.
"What's so immature about ordering ice cream?"
"Uh, you literally sitting on my lap just to order it."
Liz cleared her throat.
"Well, then."
When they got to work, Jack followed Liz to the writers' room. They were sharing an order of fries and laughing about the stupidest things.
"Have you ever tried dipping fries into ice cream?" Liz asked him.
"Can't say I have, no."
"Well, you should. It's really, really good."
"I can't right now. My ice cream is still covered with chocolate."
Liz chuckled as she ate the ice cream.
"Whatever floats your boat, buddy."
"Where have you been all day?" Frank asked her.
Jack and Liz's laughter stopped and Liz looked at him seriously.
"Nowhere that involves you. Plus, why do you care? You left me here with all the re-writes, remember?"
"Yeah, which I found scattered all over the floor this morning!"
"That's because you people don't work. Now, the next one who leaves without finishing their work is getting FIRED, you hear me? Not just from me, but from Jack, too! How would you guys feel if you got double-fired?"
"Uh...uh...I'm sorry, Liz! I...I'm just--"
"Get back to work and no one talk. The next one who talks is getting fired. Get your work done," Liz said before entering her office with Jack.
Jack closed the door and his jaw dropped as he turned to look at Liz.
"What?" she asked grumpily.
"That was amazing, Lemon. You actually talked like a real boss out there. And double fired? That's a great idea," he said.
"Well, I've learned from the best," she said, smiling.
Jack pretended to wipe imaginary tears from his eyes.
"I'm so proud!" he said before hugging her.
"Those morons are getting fired, though."
Jack smirked.
Later that day, Liz decided to visit Jenna to see how she was doing.
"Hey, buddy," Liz said as she walked in.
"Wow. You must be sleeping with the boss a lot if you're starting to act like one. By the way, are your legs still sore or did they get even more sore?"
"What are you talking about, Jenna? Jack and I are not sleeping together."
"Oh, yeah? Well, why did Jonathan tell me that you guys were 'burning some calories' in Jack's house? Why did you spend the night there? Explain!"
Liz sighed.
"Yes, Jenna. I was burning some calories with Jack at the gym earlier, but not like that. I spent the night at Jack's house because I forgot my key. Now that I think of it, I should've just asked Jack because he has a key to my house."
Liz stood in thought while Jenna's eyes widened.
"What?" Liz asked her.
"JACK HAS A KEY," she said slowly.
"Yeah. I gave him that in case he has an emergency or something. I have a key to his house, too. What's so important about that?"
"Oh, come on, Liz! Couples only have keys to each others' houses!"
Liz rolled her eyes.
"Whatever, Jenna."
Jenna laughed.
"Hey, you wanna watch the new Harry Potter movie tomorrow?" Jenna asked her.
"Since when did you become interested in Harry  Potter? And no, I can't. I'm watching Winnie-the-Pooh tomorrow with Jack and Liddy."
"How about Sunday?"
"Can't. I'm going on a morning jog with Jack at Central Park."
"What about anytime next week?"
"I don't know. I'll have to--"
"Nope. Lemon's going to be Liddy's baby-sitter. She's going to be living with me," Jack said.
"Since when did you get here?" Liz asked him.
"Just now."
Liz gasped.
"So, if I baby-sit Liddy, does that mean unlimited playtime with her?"
Jack smiled and nodded.
"YAY!!!!" Liz yelled.
Jenna smirked.
"You guys, get out of my dressing room!" Jenna screamed.
"Okay, okay! Sorry we bothered you," Liz said.
Jenna slammed the door in front of their faces.
"So you accept?" Jack asked her.
Liz nodded.
"Great. You start tomorrow. Bring your extra clothes and stuff because I need a late-night nanny, too."
Liz gave him a thumbs-up and walked back in the writers' room. When she walked in, she wasn't surprised at what she saw. Frank was throwing paper at Lutz, Sue was only in her bra, Cerie was walking barefoot and Kenneth was telling everyone to stop.
When they all saw Liz, everyone got quiet.
"Miss Lemon, I was just about to--"
"Shush, Kenneth," Liz told him.
Liz took a deep breath.
"Okay. I'm going to be the good boss here today because I have a child waiting for me. Please, get your work done because I don't need any more stress in my life. And if it makes you work better, Jack and I have provided you with fries. pick them up at the everybody dining room and report back here immediately to work. Did everyone get that?"
"Uh. Fries is not an appropriate lunch choice," Lutz pointed out.
"Don't. Just don't," Liz said, trying to keep cool as she went back to her office.

Give Me a Year

Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Not mine.
Spoilers: None
Pairing: Jack/Liz
Summary: Jack leaves Kabletown.
A/N: If season 6 ended like this, I would DIE. The ending is like a season 7-ish thing. Well, a little angsty. Might want a little tissues...or not. I don't really care. Okay, shutting up now. ON WITH THE STORY! Btw, pretend that the beautiful baby Liddy does not exist yet. This story's based on a HuffPost article Alec wrote and that one "The Office" episode when Michael leaves. Enjoy! Or not.

"Hello?"
"Mister Donaghy wants to see you immediately."
"And why?"
"Just do it!" Jonathan hissed.
Liz hung up the phone and went to Jack's office.
"What's with all the boxes?" she asked him.
She saw Jack looking at his BULB magazine and slowly putting it in the box.
Jack took a deep breath and chose his words carefully.
"Lemon, I'm going to Boston."
Liz laughed.
"Okay! That's a good one, buddy! Even if you were going to Boston for real, why are you packing your stuff?"
"I'm going to Boston to spend my life with Nancy. I've resigned from this company."
Liz gasped and put a hand over her heart.
"WHAT?! No, Jack! You can't do that!"
"And why not? Avery's not coming back and Kabletown's not getting any better."
"It's just that....well, I'll be....but what about--"
"I'm leaving on Friday. Don't worry. You still have plenty of time with me."
"That's only a day!"
Liz started to cry, so she hugged Jack.
"You can't leave," she told him.
Jack inhaled deeply.
"I have to. It's what's best for both of us."
Liz looked at him.
"What do you mean us?" she asked.
"The company and I. We're not meant to be."
Liz sniffled and wiped away her tears.
"You'll be missed, Donaghy. Now say goodbye to every one of the writers and Tracy and Jenna because you're leaving in two days. That's not a lot of time."
Jack chuckled.
"Will do, Lemon."
Liz smiled sadly at him for a few seconds, then she left his office crying.
Jack sat down on his chair and grabbed a piece of paper. He started writing down each and every one of the writer's names and put Lemon first.
Meanwhile in the writers' room, Liz couldn't get any work done. She thought about her life without Jack. She'll turn fat again. She'll date guys like Dennis. She'll eat Mexican junk food with bull sperm!
Liz put her head down and groaned.
"I can't let him leave," she told herself.
She couldn't get any sleep that night. Her past haunted her. She didn't want to become that Liz again. She wanted to be happy. Jack made her happy.
Jack couldn't get any sleep, either. Nancy was waiting for him in Boston and he was excited about that. But he was really sad that he was going to leave his co-workers in New York. They weren't just co-workers. They grew into a family; Jack, Liz, Jenna, Tracy and Kenneth.
He had to admit; he was going to miss Liz and Kenneth the most.
He slowly found himself drifting to sleep, imagining how his whole life would change in a matter of days.
**
The next morning, Jack went to work early and sat in Liz's chair at the big table.
About an hour later, the writers started coming in and taking their seats.
"Hey, Jack!" Lutz yelled.
Jack waved at him.
"What are you doing here?" Jenna asked him.
"I'm here to tell you all that I will be gone after Friday."
"Oh no! You're dying?" Tracy asked.
Jack shook his head.
"I'm going to Boston to spend the rest of my life with Nancy."
"Well, I hope you two are happy together," Liz said, before closing her door shut.
Just then, Jack's phone started to ring.
"Hello?"
"Jack! Hey, it's Nancy!"
"Oh, how are you, darling?"
"I'm doing great, Donaghy. I'm so excited to see you tonight."
Jack chuckled.
"As do I, Nancy."
"Hurry here! There's pie waiting."
Jack hung up. Yes, he is leaving today, not tomorrow or any other day.
He decided to skip Lemon and go with Jenna first.
"Hello, Jenna."
"Jack? What are you doing in my dressing room?"
"Remember how you told me you always wanted to throw water balloons at Frank because he didn't enjoy having sex with you?"
Jenna nodded and asked why.
"Well, before I leave, I would like you to do that. Here are your balloons."
Jenna's eyes lit up as she gladly took the bucket of water balloons.
"Thanks, Jack! You wanna help me throw them at him?"
Jack chuckled and agreed.
Jenna knocked on Frank's door.
"Oh, hey. What's up, Jenna?"
Jenna forcefully threw a water balloon at Frank's face.
"Take that!" she yelled.
Jack and Jenna both laughed at Frank.
"What the hell was that for?!" Frank asked.
"That's for not enjoying having sex with me, you freak!" she yelled.
Jack threw a water balloon at him.
"Now what was that for?!" Frank asked again.
"That...is for entertainment purposes. Now, have fun, Jenna. And if you need more water balloons, just call Jonathan."
"Thanks, Jack!"
Jack smiled and left the room.
Next off was Tracy.
"Jackie D! What up?" Tracy said as he greeted Jack.
"Hey, Tray. What do you say we hit a strip club?"
Tracy looked at Jack suspiciously.
"Are you okay? The women come to you, not the other way around, as far as I know. What, you got no lady?"
"No, it's not that at all. I have Nancy. I just want to do something nice for everybody in the building."
"Oh. In that case, GRIZZ! Get the Batmobile!"
**
Liz was still in her office. She had stopped crying and was trying to get some actual work done. Someone knocked on her door.
"Hey, can you get me a sweater?" Pete asked.
"It's July, Pete. What do you need a sweater for?"
"It's for one of the sketches...and because it's really cold in my office and Jack won't let me use the heater because of these so-called budget cuts."
Liz rolled her eyes and agreed.
"Thanks, Liz!" Pete said as he slammed the door.
Liz sighed and grabbed her bag. She went out to get Pete a jacket and to get some lunch.
"Did you see that black stripper with blue eyes like yours?" Tracy asked.
"I believe they're called contacts, Tracy," Jack explained.
"Whoa. Why so down? Yeah, I have to say that now since the Joker don't want me using his catchphrase."
"No, no. I had fun. It's just--It's going to be different in Boston."
"Listen, Jackie D. Do you love this Nancy Donovan as much as you love your job?"
"I love her more than that, Tray. I haven't felt this way ever since C.C."
"Who's C.C.?"
"The point is, I want to move there with her, but it's going to take a while to get adjusted."
"Well, hey. It took you a while to get adjusted to Liz Lemon, but you two turned out alright."
"Speaking of Lemon, where is she?"
Tracy shrugged.
"I have to say goodbye to her," he said.
Jack looked for Liz everywhere, but couldn't find her. He decided to go to the other writers.
"Ugh, what does Pete like anyway?" Liz asked herself.
She looked at sweater after sweater, but decided it was no use. She got the cheapest one and exited the store.
Liz ordered a sandwich for lunch and spent about half an hour eating. Then, she went to watch Larry Crowne.
After all those writers, Jack visited Kenneth last.
"Mister Donaghy, I heard you were moving," Kenneth said.
Jack nodded.
"Yes, I am, Kenneth. Today, actually."
Kenneth gasped.
"Sir! You said you were leaving tomorrow! I had lunch plans for us."
Jack sighed.
"I'm sorry. Nancy wants me there as soon as possible."
"Have you said goodbye to everyone?" Kenneth asked, his eyes welling up.
"Ye--No. Not Lemon. I've been trying to look for her all day, but I couldn't find her."
Kenneth sniffled.
"I guess I'll see you later, Mister Donaghy."
Jack looked for Lemon one last time. His flight was about to leave in three hours and he needed to get there as soon as possible.
"Pete, any word on Lemon?"
Pete shook his head.
"Oh. Alright, then. I will see you guys later," Jack said to the writers, Tracy, Jenna and Kenneth.
Kenneth shook his head. He knew he should tell everyone, but he had promised Jack he wouldn't.
"You were a great boss, sir!" Kenneth yelled.
**
Jack arrived at the airport a few minutes later. He went through the security center and walked to his station.
"Jack!" someone called out.
He turned around and saw Liz.
She hugged him for so long as if she didn't want to let go.
"Why? You should've told me you were leaving today."
Jack saw that Liz was crying, so he wiped away her tears.
"You seemed to be avoiding me all day. I thought that--"
"No. The only reason I was doing that was because I wasn't ready to let you go."
Jack realized that he was starting to cry as well.
"Jack," Liz whispered.
"Yes?"
"You're crying, too."
They chuckled before they hugged one last time.
"You can't leave, Jack," Liz said.
"I have to. It's what's best for me."
"Well, how am I going to--"
"You can always call me. And there's always iChat if you need to see my face," Jack said.
Liz chuckled.
Jack smiled and turned to leave.
"Goodbye, Lemon."
"Wait!"
Liz ran up to him and gave him a soft kiss on the cheek.
She nodded to herself and started to cry.
"Bye, Jack," she said. It was like a whisper, like she didn't want to hear herself saying those words.
Liz walked away and went back to the building.
Jack wanted to run to her and asked what just happened, but it was too late.
"Flight 109 to Boston is now boarding. Flight 109 to Boston."
Jack sighed and went to his plane.
**
After work that day, Liz just cried and cried. She cried so hard that she felt like her eyes were about to go dry. She realized that she had never cried like this before, especially even about a man who she wasn't even romantically involved with.
Should she call Jack or would that seem too desperate? Should she just iChat with him? No. That would be stupid since he would see her crying and she would cry even more just seeing his face.
Yes, she had loved Jack. She still does. But along the way, that friendship love turned into something romantic, but died. She's not sure whether she loves him as more than a friend or she just likes him for always being there for her. He was her go-to guy and now she has no one.
Someone knocked on her door.
"It's open," she weakly yelled.
It was Jenna.
"Jenna, wh--"
"Nope. Wipe those tears off of you. NOW."
"But--"
"No buts! We are going to have some quality time to help you forget about Jack, okay?"
Liz started crying again.
"Don't mention him!" she said.
"Oops. Sorry."
"What do you plan on doing this weekend anyway?"
"Just crawl at a corner in a fetal position and cry."
Jenna sighed.
"Liz! Come on! Live a little!"
"I don't wanna," she said.
Oh, boy. This was going to be tough.

**[PART TWO!PART TWO!PART TWO!]**

Wow. Liz couldn't believe it. Had it actually been a whole year since Jack left? Yes, she had lived 365 full days with no help from Jack at all. Well, some help. They called each other on the weekends and iChatted every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. They never talked about their personal lives, though. If they did, it was very brief and gave little information. Instead, they talked about their past almost as if it were like yesterday. He helped her with some of the sketches and she helped him on how to make a sandwich.
Jack once asked her if she was in a relationship, but she quickly responded "no." Even though she had coped and adjusted to life without Jack, she couldn't go to another date because she usually told Jack about it the next day in his office. He doesn't have an office anymore (in New York, at least) which is why they don't talk about their relationships anymore.
After Liz got home from work that day, she ate a chicken soufflé that she ordered from this very fancy restaurant. She thought she saw Josh Duhamel there, but it turned out to be a very handsome homeless guy.
She was watching the news when a certain someone had a segment on there.
"And on the phone now is Jack Donaghy, former GE executive. How are you, Jack?"
"I'm doing well, Piers. How about yourself?"
"Splendid. What can you say about this recent writer's strike?"
Liz's eyes were glued to the television now.
"You know, I have a friend who's actually a writer. I haven't seen her in a year, but what I have to say is that writers are tough. They won't stop until they get what they want, even if that means missing their favorite television show. It might be days until they give up. I mean, I saw them marching around the building the other day."
"Thank you, Jack."
"My pleasure."
"Up next..."
Hang on. The writer's strike was only at Rockefeller Plaza and no place else. Was...? No, he was in Boston with Nancy. He can't be in New York...can he?
The next morning, Liz woke up smelling syrup. Was someone making pancakes? Or was it Northrax? Liz closed her eyes and counted to ten. She opened her eyes and realized she wasn't dead.
She smiled to herself. So, was someone making pancakes?
She went to her kitchen and found a fresh batch of pancakes covered with maple syrup on top. There was a fork already there and a bouquet of roses was on her seat.
"Who did this?" she asked herself.
She ate her breakfast and went to the bathroom to freshen herself up. Oddly, she found a rose on her sink.
"Alright. Who are you?"
No one answered.
Liz sighed and decided to ask that question at work.
She got dressed and went back to her kitchen to get a snack. She couldn't believe what she saw when she looked in the pantry.
One whole stack of Sabor De Soledad. No. Way.
She looked in her fridge and found fresh vegetables and in her freezer, bucketloads of ice cream.
Did a shelter come here in the middle of the night to give her food?
She went to her office at work and she saw him. Then, it struck her. He was the one who cooked her the pancakes. He was the one that gave her all those food. He was the one who gave her roses. Most importantly, he was Jack. She saw him wearing a blue polo shirt and khakis, typing something on her laptop.
Liz's jaw dropped as Jack smiled and went up to her.
"Hello, Elizabeth."
Liz squealed and hugged him.
"Jack!!!!!!!!!"
He chuckled.
"Wow. Look at you, Lemon. You've lost weight."
Liz smiled.
"Thanks! So have you. You look good."
"Anything to say about my hair?"
"It fits you. I'm actually glad you stopped dying it. Salt-and-pepper matches you."
"How's the people?"
Liz sighed and sat down.
"Let's see. Kenneth took your place."
Jack gasped.
"I knew that day would come," he said.
Liz laughed.
"Yeah. Tracy became mayor of New York for a week...until he resigned and went totaled exotic reptiles instead."
"What laws did he pass?"
"Umm...Strip Poker Tuesday."
Jack laughed.
"Oh, um, Jenna has her own talk show now. It's called  'Jenna!' with an exclamation point because she wanted to be better than Oprah."
"What about you?"
"Well, as you can tell, TGS got cancelled. I'm now the head writer for Parks and Recreation."
"Oh, that's wonderful!" he said, smiling.
"Yeah, it's alright. Amy Poehler and I are starting to become friends."
Jack laughed.
"What about Toofer and them?"
"They're in this reality show called 'Writers Unite' and it features former writers for tv shows and they tell their stories."
"And Cerie?"
"She's a model now. She still comes here every day, though. Poor girl still thinks she's eighteen."
"And Pete?"
"Oh. Pete's a producer for Parks and Rec. He's still there in his office."
"It's nice to know some things haven't changed."
Liz sighed.
"Yeah. But a lot changes in a year, you know?"
Jack nodded.
"What about you? How are things going with you and Nancy?"
Jack scoffed.
"Nancy and I broke up six months ago. It wasn't working AT ALL. It turns out, she was having a relationship with Steve Carell and I didn't even know. She said she was going to break up with him, though. Something about 'Crazy, Stupid Love,' she said. I assumed that's how she felt. Anyway, it felt like she was trying to be me. You know, Avery and Nancy two years ago? Yeah. I'm the Nancy in this one. I'm the childhood friend but Steve is the  Avery that won because he's the younger one."
Liz patted Jack on the back as they walked to his old office.
"Aw. It's okay, buddy. There'll be other girls out there."
Jack kneeled down on one knee and held Liz's hand.
"What are you doing?" she asked.
"Lemon, do you want to go to dinner with me tonight?"
Liz laughed nervously.
"Oh, I thought you were going to--cuz I was all ready to, like--Yeah, sure. I'll go to dinner with you. Sounds fun."
They arrived at his old office.
"Mister Donaghy, is that you?" Jonathan called out.
"Jonathan! How are you, mister?"
Jonathan's eyes widened as he ran up to hug Jack.
"How's Kenneth? Has he been a good boss?"
Jonathan cleared his throat.
"He made me wear a clown hat for six months, sir. Would you like to have a very friendly and business-full dinner with me, sir?"
"Hey!" Liz yelled. "He's taken!"
Jack's eyebrows were raised.
"Who am I taken by, Lemon?" he asked, having a sly grin on his face.
Liz smiled embarrassingly.
"Oh, shut up," she said, before kissing him.
"Now that's a first," Jack said after they pulled away.
Jonathan got Kenneth on the phone and told him that he had some visitors waiting for him.
Kenneth came out of the door, wearing a gray suit with a red tie.
"Mister Donaghy? Miss Lemon? What are you two doing here?"
"Just visiting you, Kenneth. I'm glad you have taken my place. Kabletown sure made a good decision."
Kenneth chuckled.
"Thank you, sir."
"Kenneth? Why don't you call everyone by their first name? You're not a page anymore."
"Respect, Miss Lemon. I've been a page for so long that I've gotten used to it."
Liz chuckled.
"Well, I should get going. Jack and I have some lunch plans."
"I thought we agreed on dinner," he said.
"Hey, you're the rich one! I'm just the girl who's getting free meals."
Jack chuckled.
"You kiss well, you know that?"
"I doubt it."
"Well, I'll be the judge of that."
